Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy empowers individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application, the philosophy and practice of yoga. Yoga Therapy classes develop a program of using age old yoga techniques such as breath work and present moment awareness combined with body awareness exercises.
This class is suitable for people who have pain, injury or illness that is limiting the things they love to do; are open-minded and ready to embrace new ideas about how the body and mind interact; are dedicated and willing to invest in themselves; and, want to function better and find more balance in life.
  
An extensive and confidential evaluation form is used to design a tailored program for each participant.


*Check with your extended health plan to see if it covers work with a Practicing Kinesiologist.

Moksha Inspired
Moksha yoga is a form of hot yoga that is ideal for the yoga beginner as well as the seasoned practitioner. Every Moksha Yoga class takes you through a series of strengthening and toning postures in the detoxifying calm of a heated studio.  At this point Chinook Yoga Studio does not have the capacity to heat the studio to the ideal temperature of 37-39 degrees celsius so it is more like a warm room yoga class.  It is called a Moksha Inspired class because it is not taught at a Moksha studio but you will still experience all the benefits of a great yoga class!  Jaylene Paivarinta, the instructor for this class, has completed 300 hours of the 500 hour level Moksha Yoga Teacher Training.  The remaining 200 hours will be completed by June 2011. 

Bring a towel and a water bottle!

Yoga Works
Break up your work day with this 1 hour mid day yoga class that will help bring balance to your mind and body.  Something that a lot of bodies and minds need after extended periods of sitting and repetitive work at the computer.

This class is aimed at people that spend a majority of their work day at a computer.  However it can also be suitable for anyone doing any type of repetitive work or just someone that needs yoga at their mid day!

Body Balance
Improve body efficiency and ease, both on and off the mat.  Release tension through your back, hips, shoulders and neck.  Deepen core stability and increase flexibility and strength with pure movement principles combined with classic asana and breath awareness.  This is a great class to balance out other yoga classes or as a cross training for any sport or activity.  Those wishing to work on a specific injury would do better with yoga therapy (see above).

Mom & Baby Yoga

Your baby has most certainly transformed your life, and yoga can be a wonderful way to help enhance this transition. Many women are able practice gentle yoga soon after giving birth. Mom and Baby yoga classes are designed for both mothers and babies.

Babies should be at least 8 weeks old before joining a Mom & Baby Yoga class. Classes are suitable for babies up to crawling age.
